Tarot Reading for Samhain Magic

October 30, 2019

The supernatural and our interaction with the Otherworld are common themes at Samhain. In celebration of this I will be sharing tarot spreads, supernatural, and Otherworldly entries over the couple of days. And, in keeping with the Otherworldly theme this reading examines a mystical persona you can gain insight and magic from during this Samhain holiday. There are many mystics depicted in the tarot, but I picked three I’m quite fond of and believe will be excellent spiritual guides for you during as Samhain approaches. Take a moment to look at the three cards and decide which one you are most drawn to. You can read below to learn more about the card you picked.

If you picked the card on the left you picked the Hermit. This Samhain season your spirituality deepens through self-exploration and mystical study. To deepen your magic this Samhain season you must deepen your research. The Hermit procures his magic from philosophy, theology, and even alchemy. These may be topics that lead you down paths to better understanding the magic of the universe and your place within it. This Samhain you can benefit from solitary time to organize your thoughts, reflect on spirituality, read a book, or even perform a private magical ritual. Try bibliomancy, which is the divination of books, this Samhain. Also be on the lookout for teachers - you may find Merlinian wisdom and magic reveals itself to you if you are open to it. If you read tarot put the Hermit card down in front of you and focus on his lantern. Pull a card asking yourself what in your life needs illumination right now.

If you picked the card in the center you picked the Queen of Cups. This Samhain season your spiritual focus is on your energetic exchange with others and spiritual expression. The Queen of Cups is emotional, intuitive, and loving. She cares for those around her- she knows that if others feel good she will feel good as well. Samhain would be an excellent time to host an event, magical or mundane, with loved ones and magical partners. The Queen of Cups is an empath, so she reminds you to to protect your heart this season and to shield yourself from the intense energy in the air. It has been said that the Queen of Cups uses the cup she holds as a scrying surface, gazing into its reflection to look for psychic visions and messages. Perhaps this is an indicator to scry this Samhain. If you read tarot put the Queen of Cups down in front of you and focus on her cup. Pull a card asking yourself how your magic can best help others.

If you picked the card on the right you picked the High Priestess. This Samhain season you will benefit in exploring witchcraft and the supernatural. The Hermit’s world is illuminated by the lantern. The High Priestess’ world is illuminated by the moon that crowns her head. This is to say: the High Priestess’ understanding of herself comes from magic, meditation, and dreams. This Samhain pay close attention to the world around you: there may be subtle omens or nods from the Otherworld. Practice witchcraft, reflect on your own interactions with the supernatural, and write down your dreams. These will lead you to the next steps In your spiritual practices. Drink mugwort and cinnamon tea before bed to have more vivid dreams this Samhain. If you read tarot put the High Priestess down in front of you and focus on the veil behind her. Pull a card asking yourself what practices you can do to develop your intuition and deepen your wisdom.
